Task 4: Project Evaluation
Evaluation – Task 4
evaluation:
Were the results/findings what you expected
(look back to Task 2 - Part 1)?
Throughout the research, I discovered the end result
was much the same as my hypothesis. That digital equipment is affecting the
traditional studio greatly. I was expecting to find that digital equipment was
slowly rendering analog equipment useless through the fact that we are making
developments in our sound every day in order to get digital up to the same spec
of analog, and I found the truth throughout my interview. I confirmed this
through first hand knowledge in my studio interview, as they almost always use analog. However, if it is easier on digital and sounds just as good, they would use it.
I also expected that the modern producer would not
have any analog equipment, as it was too expensive. I find this really
interested as it shows the direction that we are going with producers being
happy using fairly cheap, shop bought gear.
What did my feedback from my questionnaire tell me?
My feedback from my questionnaire:
Positives:
- There was a lot of useful information in it
- I was confident in speaking to my audience
- The practical was very good, as it was a lot easier to understand the information than the presentation
- In some instances, the time given on some topics was perfect
- I demonstrated it all very well
- A lot of detail in it
- Structure very well
- Learnt a lot from each
Negatives:
- It was too long
- In some instances, there was to much information to take in, in one slide
- Should have had less talking and more practical information
- The presentation was not as engaging as the practical
How did you manage your time during this
project and what impact did this have on your work?
I found that I managed my time quite well as I went on
holiday for 3 weeks, which gave me very little time to conduct any 1st
hand research, however I still managed to interview a very good studio and a
producer over email. I also managed my time wisely by utilising every spare moment I had free. I steadied myself throughout each section by using time limits, and then analysing the section for how it reads and mistakes for 10 minutes afterwards.
What were my strengths in the project?
I feel like my biggest strength was definitely time management, as I utilised every little bit of it to my advantage. I structured, scheduled and managed to create a strong routine in order to complete my work in time. I found that by using my schedule my work read a lot better than before because i spent an ven amount of time on each section of the work.
What were my weakness’s in the Project?
I felt my main weakness in this project was definitely figuring out how to tackle such a big question in one. It took quite a bit of time to figure out what I will structure the question into, however i feel that i have succeeded in the task.
my other weakness in the project was that i feel like I started on the project too late. Despite the holiday, I definitely felt that if I done it sooner rather than later, I would have more time to refine it and get it sounding better.

What I learned from this project?
I feel like I have learnt to manage my time so much better than before, as I really used to take my time when doing assignments. however, I found that if i structured my time properly i could be so much more productive than before and get the most out of what I am doing. I also discovered that doing small amounts each day spread makes for a much better read.
What could i improve on for next time?
I feel like next time should choose a much smaller question, as my question was quite a task to work on and took a long time to structure.
I also feel like I should start sooner on big projects as there is a lot less stress in doing this.
